ALASKAN TOUR DESCRIPTION

SATURDAY- Board the ship at 1:00pm, the ship sails at 5:00pm.  We’ll have a bike meeting in the early evening and dinner together.

SUNDAY Relax and enjoy your day at sea to explore the ship and take time to absorb the beauty of The Inside Passage.

MONDAY – Ketchikan – 7:00am-3:00pm - KETCHEKAN Will be a FREE DAY.

We have had requests for a free day to do a different activity, so today you can explore the town or pick one of the ship tours of your choice.

TUESDAY – Juneau 7:00am-1:30pm- It’s about a 22-25 mile ride.  We’ll disembark the ship about 7:15, meet our guides and take a van out to the start of the ride.  You’ll see the outskirts of Juneau on our way.  A highlight of this day is riding in the rainforest area close to the lake on a bike path.  You’ll ride right through an area where glaciers ruled.  A stop at a quaint church gives you an overlook of Mendenhall Lake and Glacier.  We’ll ride through The University and down the highway with Mendenhall Glacier looming in the foreground.  As we approach the Mendenhall Glacier viewing area, keep an eye out for bears!  We’ve had some sightings.  You’ll have about 45 minutes to walk around and take in this beautiful setting with the glacier and the lake. Back in town you will have some time to shop and then head to The Red Dog Saloon for a “Duckfart.”  It’s a hangout that’s quite an experience.

You'll be back on the ship for lunch and then savor this delightfully different afternoon cruising into a Fjord like passage way. The ship will glide through as it narrows and then lends way to
a most amazing vista of the Sawyer Glacier. Well spend about an hour in this wonderland of icebergs, sea birds and blue glaciers. This afternoon is a definite highlight of your trip!.

Wednesday – Skagway 7:00am – 5:30pm – Then it’s on to Skagway where we start out on The White Pass Railroad up the Old Yukon Trail.  Experience tunnels, trestles, waterfalls, valleys and mountains on our way to Fraser, BC on this narrated train trip.  It’s about an hour and a half train ride.  Then we’ll hop on the bikes and make our way 28 miles back to Skagway.  The ride starts out with a gradual 6 mile climb to the top of the pass, and then it’s mostly downhill with some rollers.  What an exhilarating ride!  There will be great views of Dead Horse Gulch and Horse Tail Falls and you’ll ride over a suspension bridge. AFter the ride you will have plenty of time to browse in the shops.  This town has the true flavor of The Gold Rush Days.  Visit the Gold Rush Cemetery or the old brothel, The Red Onion Saloon and take the upstairs tour!

Thursday – At Sea cruising the aqua-blue waters of Alaska AND a day to enjoy this fabulous new ship and all it has to offer!

Friday – Victoria – 4:00pm – 10:00am - You’ll have the early part of the day to sleep in, relax and enjoy the ship. The ship will dock at 4:00pm in Victoria. We will disembark about 4:15pm, meet our guides and go for a great ride. We will do about 18-20 miles through Victoria. This is a very scenic ride winding its way through beautiful rural and residential areas and will follow along the coast line with great views. You’ll see colorful local gardens, a Castle and the Governer's Mansion. We’ll end at the bike shop. There’s a place to have a bite or a farewell toast with everyone. You have a choice to walk back to the ship through town and marvel at Victoria and it's grand buildings or van back to the ship after the ride has ended. The ship sails at 10:00pm.

Saturday – Debarkation Day - The ship will arrive in Seattle about 8:00am. No need to rush off the ship, disembark at your leisure by 10:30am. Disembarkation will start about 8:30am for those with early flights. If you are going home today book your flight after 11:30am to allow enough time to arrive at the airport. You may opt to stay over and explore the fun city of Seattle or extend your journey elsewhere in the Great Pacific Northwest!
